STC Technical Editing SIG Now Accepting Scholarship Applications
The Technical Editing (TE) Special Interest Group (SIG) of the Society for
Technical Communication (STC) fosters excellence in technical communication by
advancing technical editing skills through the sharing of information,
experience, and professional support. Among our goals are to serve as the first
resource on questions of editing for all STC members and to increase awareness
about the value that editing can add to all forms of technical communication
Two Technical Editing SIG Scholarships Available for 2008
The Technical Editing SIG offers two scholarships of $2,000.00 each, the first to assist students who are pursuing an undergraduate degree and the second to assist students who are pursuing a graduate degree in the fields of Technical Communication. Students applying for one of these scholarships are expected to be able to demonstrate their focus on topics related to technical editing through their academic studies, current jobs, special projects, or undergraduate or graduate program. The winners will be announced in the Technical Editing SIG newsletter.
Eligibility
The Technical Editing SIG Scholarship Committee evaluates applicants’ academic records and potential for contributing to the Technical Editing profession. To be eligible for a scholarship, you must be
- Enrolled in a graduate degree or undergraduate degree program in the Technical Communication field
- Pursuing a career as a Technical Editor
Deadline for Application
The Technical Editing SIG is accepting scholarship applications for 2008. The deadline for submission is May 16, 2008. Winners will be notified before the end of June 2008.
